Cities is now Flooding

January 11th, 2011 at 06:53 pm

I am a little worried that my son will try to go to work today, most of roads from his house to work are cut and his work place is going under as I write this. There is no way out if he does goes. Power has been cut to these areas now.

Brisbane braces for the worst as record floodwaters loom

I may lose power at some time so don’t panic if you don’t hear from me for a few days.

Do remember that each 1 metre = 39 inches or 3.15 feet

I hope your son stays safe. We are watching the coverage of these appalling floods, and it is indeed very frightening. Do take care, Kitty.

I read the article you linked, and loved the story of the kangaroo rescue. It says a lot about the Aussie spirit.

I saw this earlier today and wondered if it was affecting you. I hope you and your son are both safe and that the flooding subsides soon.

He is safe as there was a road blocks on the highway, but does means that I have to look after myself while all this flooding is going on, 75% of the State is now flooding. The Dam that I written about over years about our water restriction when it was down to 16% full, now it’s at 193% full at 200% it will spill over the top. This is why they can’t close the flood gates on the dam. That around 2.5B litres of water it’s holding back just hope the wall doesn’t go that all.

Now Northern NSW is the next front that is just starting with 5 States with flooding in parts.

I have been watching the coverage on tv all day now, and it is just horrible. My husband uncle live just outside of Brisbane and a couple of his cousins lives in Brisbane area.

It is pretty crazy here at the moment. I am just about to post a couple of pics. We live on higher ground so our house was safe - but made getting to work difficult. Watching the news about Toowoomba and Grantham brought tears to my eyes. Frown We have friend in Brisbane who are stuck at home, some evacuated. A friend stuck at his Caboolture home while his pregnant wife is stuck with friends in Brisbane. And my DF's sister and BIL live in Gympie and she is due to have a baby this week, and the roads are all flooded! Scary stuff!
