Buying bulk olive oil

I did go shopping today to buy some olive oil for DF-M family in the country. 4x 4L cans of olive oil which was the cheapest that brand it has been for a while & I did get them some staff discount off it also, $116.00 worth of oil in fact. I bought only some groceries, game steak to try and very tender too! Cream Cheese spread 2x $2.49 –5% off = $4.73, saving $1.79 here & generic brand ice cream & some 2nd hand books $3.50 saving $12.00 on them. I did pretty well for shopping someone else in not getting to tempted to shop. 2 of the 3 items were on my list.

LUNCH Crackers & Marinated Feta Cheese with Marinated Peppers Fruit Coffee
DINNER Savoury Mince on Toast. Fruit Coffee

    Wow, 16 liter of olive oil! To me, buying it in bulk is buying just one 4 liter can! How long can you keep olive oil? I always heard that it deteriorates quickly enough that you should always try to use only the most current year's harvest. I have no idea how much OO we even use, as my husband always buys it and I only pay attention if I've run out when I'm cooking. But husband and son use more OO than I do, so they are more aware of the quantities used, I think.

    For DF-M family in the country. 4x 4L cans of olive oil. I'm buying lot more than that amount over the year, this is just one shop. I don't know if this is for one family or more as there is large number of them. There are over 6 families up there and all are Italian. They have over 2 hours around trip to nearest large shopping centre only to find it sold out and being farmers they just don’t get the time to make multi trips just in case the store has some stock. I have 5 shopping centres with different supermarkets within 10 KM from my place. Someone is making the 6 hours around trip once every few weeks here.

    I only use about under 16oz (500ml) per year myself.
